David Miller
Head Coach

The 2021 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year and former La Salle skipper David Miller will return to his previous helm as head baseball coach. Miller, who has served as head coach at Manhattan College over the past two years, began his tenure in June 2024 to prepare for the return of the baseball program to competition in 2025-26.

"We are excited for the return of La Salle baseball and over the last several months, we have discussed our program with alumni, former student-athletes and an amazing candidate pool," Vice President for Athletics & Recreation Ashwin Puri said. "During the process, it became clear David was the right coach to lead our program.  He knows La Salle, the Atlantic 10 and the Philadelphia baseball community. We share his vision for La Salle Baseball and are excited to have him rebuild our program and take it to new heights."

HANK DEVINCENT FIELD

Hank DeVincent Field is a baseball field located on the campus of La Salle University. The field is home to the La Salle Explorers baseball team of the Division I Atlantic 10 Conference, and the La Salle Club Baseball team. The field holds a capacity of 1,000 fans. The playing surface at DeVincent Field, like McCarthy Stadium, is Sprinturf.

The field is named after Henry "Hank" DeVincent, who graduated in 1956. A member of the La Salle Hall of Athletes, he played soccer and ran track but was best known for his baseball career.

DeVincent is one of the only two numbers retired from the baseball squad, as his number eight hangs just to the right of the scoreboard next to Gene McDonnell's number nine. He is the only person in program history to have his number retired after only competing as a player.

During his career in the Blue and Gold, DeVincent batted over .400 and was named an All-American outfielder and was drafted upon graduation. He signed a bonus contract with the Cincinnati Reds, where he spent his professional career. He retired from professional baseball to attend medical school.

The diamond was dedicated on April 29, 1978. Sprinturf was installed following the 2006 season. It was renovated again in 2019.

DeVincent Field underwent a full removal of the old artificial turf in the summer of 2019, and replaced it with Sprinturf's DFE Extreme Field.

The field features a 330 micron plus monofilament and a 120 micron plus slit film. It is exclusively made in-house and in the United States of America. A sand and rubber infill artificial turf system, the DFE Extreme Field reaches the highest standards of durability and is also designed to increase safety and reduce the rate of player injury.
